The building uses the gentle slope of the site to create what from the street appears to be a single story home yet grows as the house steps down the hill, opening itself completely to the rear gardens and pool. The design creates a great sense of privacy to the street, yet immense openness toward the rear gardens and pool, a strong sense of intimacy yet grandeur, and a play of interlocking volumes all within a rich palette of highly textural exposed Board Form Concrete, supple warm Western Red Clear Cedar and soft white stucco volumes.
